Introduction of Tai Chi 太極
Tai Chi is the root of Taoist philosophy and an ancient form of slow, graceful and rhythmic exercise, which originated from Lao Shan in China. Lao Shan is one of the places where Taoism first founded. Taoist priests living on the mountain were conferred with special privileges.

The Taoism book is the origin of the universe and the creator of all living beings, the theory of Yin and Yang. Taoism also adopted nature and ancestor worship from earlier Chinese beliefs, they also believed men could attain immortality and become a celestial being by living an austere life. Tao's equality life style is to practice Tai Chi exercises to help mind and body, "harmony balance" and movement sequence for contemporary lifestyle.

The History of the Tai Chi 太極的歷史
Tai Chi has an estimated 5000-6000 year history, it was closely guarded serest passed down to the family before the Tang dynasty (618-906 A.D.). According to the Chinese bible Tao Te Jin (道德經), Taoism originated in the 2nd Century AD. Laozi (老子) as the forefather of Taoism, a Chinese philosopher of the Spring and Autumn Period (春秋時代). Taoism's core belief is to establish a utopian peace where everyone lives in equality. In the Sung dynasty, Master Zheng San Feng (born 1247), founder of Tai Chi. He modified the form of the movement.

Chen Style VS Yang Style 陳家太極 楊家太極
Yang Lu Chan (1799-1872) was the founder of Yang style Tai Chi. Chen Chang Hsin taught Yang all the Chen family Tai Chi skills, he believed better to spread the essence of Tai Chi to the world than to risk losing its vitality by restricting it to family only and recorded in book. Chen taught Tai Chi outside family members and changed the Tai Chi history totally which became the most successful part of the Taoism theory.

The Chinese Politics Open the Gate for Tai Chi
1949, a new chapter of the Chinese history had opened due to Chinese politics, a new door opened up for Tai Chi. Many great teachers went to Asia, Taiwan and Singapore, and they introduced Tai Chi to USA in 1960s, and began the introduction of Tai Chi in Britain and Westerner in 1970s. Now it is still continuing to flourish around the world.

The movement of the Tai Chi
The movement of the Martial Art Kung Fu is hard, force of the speed, but the Tai Chi Form is soft and gentle, its emphasis lies in the yielding aspect of nature overcoming the hard - like the waterfall which eventually wears away the rock beneath. Tai Chi gently tones and strengthens the organs and muscles, improves circulation and posture, and relax both mind and the body. In Taoist it is called Yin and Yang, it means "harmony balance" of our body and mind. It is based on the Taoist philosophy patience and relaxation of the body and spirit.

The Principles of Tai Chi
Tai Chi has been described as the system of health, relaxation, physical co-ordination, medicine, self-defense and consciousness- raising, as well as means of exercise and self-defence. It is the perfect antidote to the stresses and strains of today's modern heavy life style. Tai Chi can help to release tension and relax our joints. People of all ages, conditions and abilities can benefit from it.

The New Form of Tai Chi for Children
Our teacher combines Kung Fu and Tai Chi and Opera Fan for our school workshop. It has proved very popular with children. Through our workshop children could learn the fun of fan movement and the Yin and Yang (harmony balance) of their body and mind.

武術功夫和太極的形態
武術功夫的動作是堅固的, 講求速度的, 但太極的動作則是柔軟的, 溫和的, 它強調以柔制鋼. 太極有輕輕的氣質和鞏固器官和肌肉, 改善循環和心境, 放鬆頭腦和身體. 道教信徒稱太極為陰和陽, 意思是”融洽”, 讓我們的頭腦和身體融洽起來. 它教導我們要有道教信徒的冷靜, 忍耐, 放鬆身體和情緒.
